  Unit itself has an older décor with pretty tired furniture and appliances alike. Cookware is dollar store quality at best and carpets are badly soiled. Unit only has air conditioning in the upper and lower bedrooms so the main unit gets very hot. Beds are comfortable. Unit is nicely located near lower pool with a great ocean view.

  I stayed in unit 275
  
  The location, check-in and check-out were all great. I stayed in the main floor bedroom and the other guests stayed upstairs.
  
  I found that without the air conditioner turned on, there was a distinct smell to the bedroom, a chemical or mouldy smell. I asked other friends to describe it, and they agreed with that assessment. I was feeling a bit nauseous (and just off) for much of the stay and felt better a day after leaving. My group rented three units all at the same time, but the bedroom in my unit was the only one that seemed to suffer this smell. The upstairs bedroom did not have this same stink to it.
  
  Also, the downstairs bathroom was dusty. Dust on the walls and caked on the ceiling fan. A number of lights and/or light switches and/or wall plugs did not work in the downstairs bedroom.
  
  All three units seemed to have a different level and quantity of utensils, so we were able to share amongst us.
  
  I had at least two other people recommend this complex before staying here. Other than some of my complaints about that particular unit, I believe this is an otherwise very good place to stay.

  It was good , the unit need some few updating , the fan in downstairs bedroom was wobbling when the fan is turn on on , looks unsafe ( didn’t use it ) the living room does not have cooling system , unlike other units we stayed before , we’ve been staying at Hale kamaole every year for the past seven years .   We found the condo, clean and comfortable. There was two couples, both adults. The downstairs bedroom has two single beds, That was a little tough for adults, but it was OK. It took a little while to get used to what light switch worked which light... The only real complaint, though had to do with the air conditioning units. The window-based units were noisy and cycled on and off sometimes only minutes apart, and very Noisy when they were running, enough sometimes it would wake you up at night.The utensils and such are a little dated and it would’ve been nice to Have a cast iron pan for grilling. Parking for us perfect and closest to the beach is excellent.

  A mixed review. Stayed in unit 275. It's dated and had a serious problem with pests..namely coackroaches.
  Spoke with the office and was referred to the manager who ultimately satisfied us with a compromise and additional pest control measures. I do NOT recommend using this unit without assurances that the main deficency has been resolved.
  As for the property (Hale Kamaole), it is a wonderful property with great staff at all levels. It is beautifully located with great views. We have stayed at HK numerous times and are booked to return two more times in the next 12 months. This verifies our overall feelings about the property but cannot recommend using unit 275 at this time.

  This condo is in a great location - steps to the pool, across the road to Kam III beach, an easy walk to shops. However, the unit itself was a little disappointing and could use a refresh. I'm not usually one to complain, but since we did see in some of the other condos, they were in much better shape. The decor in #275 was a little tired looking and there were too many dusty fake plants. A little decluttering would solve that. The bed mattresses, pillows, and bedding need to be updated. The loft pull out beds are more suited to children, not adults, and one of them was in very rough shape (held together with zap straps). The oven never heated properly - took over 20 minutes of pre-heating and never even reached 250F. The condo could also use a few extras to make it more comfortable - an AC unit for the main living area, bath mats, oven mitts, a baking sheet, a dish drying rack, and boogie boards for the beach. We did certainly enjoy the location of the condo and the amenities of the complex.

  Multiple cockroaches and traps. Dated, dusty and unkept furniture and appliances throughout the condo. Carpet badly stained, tons of decorations and fake plants with so much dust. Kitchen full of debris in cupboards and drawers, so cockroaches love it there. Very dark on inside due to location and limited lighting options. Sheets and bed liners stained and smelly. Not sure if it’s the owner or the management, but the apartment needs a DEEP clean.
  Location is wonderful. Washer/dryer work great. Security was excellent and always present.

  The suite was clean but very outdated compared to other suites. The grounds were immaculate and the staff was absolutely lovely to deal with. I wouldn’t recommend this complex to families traveling with children as there is so many rules surrounding the pool. I think a great idea would be to designate one pool that children are allowed at, and designate the other one to adults only.

  Overall a good experience, but there were a few minor issues. Not worth raising during the trip, but FYI for the future:
  1) Shower curtain in upstairs bathroom was moldy
  2) One outlet in upstairs bedroom didn't seem to work (underneath big window). May have been on a switch I couldn't find
  3) Ceiling fan in downstairs bedroom didn't seem securely attached, wobbled a ton when running at slow speed. We didn't run this fan at all after seeing this.

  We had a great time at Hale Kamaole. We visited with 3 other families and we each had our own condo. The location is great. One of the bedroom air conditioning units wasn't working, and the maintenance team was quick to respond and repair. The only criticism I can think of is that the kitchen could use some more "stuff." There was only one bowl big enough for my teenage son's daily ramen and breakfast cereal - lol. But the Brita pitcher in the fridge was VERY appreciated!

  Hale Kamaole keeps their grounds well manicured and pools and BBQs clean, located across the street from the park and beach. Unit is very modern, newly renovated, lots of space, well-stocked kitchen, kept cool with AC or with cool outdoor breeze. Evenings on the lanai are relaxing with wonderful view. Walking distance to restaurants, shops and surf lessons. Elevator access to 3rd floor is available. Lots of parking. Short drive to Makena Beach.

  This our first time to Maui, but not our last. We regarded the location of Hale Kamaole to be perfect! The property was very well taken care of and the amenities wonderful. The property management were helpful. Unit 275 was a great location, nicely updated but lacking some basics. The beds, including the hide a bed were comfortable, although the pilly sheets were umcomfortable. We were a party of 5 and there were only 5 bath towels, 4 hand towels and 2 face cloths and only one dish cloth and towel. really not adequate. Also they advertise beach essentials, but again, there were only 3 beach towels, 1 beach chair, and little usable water goods( mask, fins). We ended up purchasing and leaving a chair and bamboo mats. Also the deck chairs could use decent cushions. We would rebook this unit if we knew these items were addressed. For a short stay this may not be important, but when staying longer, this becomes would be factor in our decision to rebook.

  We stayed in Unit 275 for two weeks in early 2018. We had stayed in Hale Kamaole before, so we were quite familiar with the property. The property is very well maintained, with beautiful grounds, pools, and tennis court. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in the condition of unit 275. The unit has a beautiful view of the beach across the street and while the kitchen has been updated, it doesn’t make up for the condition of the rest of the unit. The unit needs attention...fresh paint is needed, sheets were thin and well used, and furniture cushions were ripped. The rooms were decorated in a way that made them feel small and dark. Pictures on the the walls have faded with years of exposure to the sun. The washer and dryer are smaller than in other units, are worn, and could also be replaced. We were with family who were close by in renovated units. While it’s understandable that not all units can be remodeled, steps could be taken to update and maintain. There were not many beach items in the unit, so we had to rent chairs from Snorkel Bob’s. We had wonderful assistance from the friendly and accommodating site management staff, in dealing with issues that came up such as a window that wouldn’t close, ceiling fan light that didn’t work, kitchen fluorescent light cover that was falling down in the kitchen...
  This until will continue to be rented, as it in a wonderful location. Others may have no issues with the condition of the unit. Perhaps we had higher expectations, seeing the beautifully updated units 276 and 177. We will continue to recommend Hale Kamaole, but we will try to book further in advance next time, in order to get a nicer unit, for the same amount of money.

  This is the second time (20yrs later) we have stayed at Hale Kamaole and it did not disappoint. Our condo was clean and ready to go when we arrived. We had a late arrival time and Hale Kamaole made the access to the condo very easy - which was nice for a family exhausted from traveling. The complex/grounds were also just perfect, beautiful and well maintained. The unit itself could use some serious updating (this is coming from a real estate agent who previously owned a staging company so I am a little more aware of decor) but the tile floors were great and the recently remodeled kitchen was perfect for all our needs. Overall-LOVED our experience.
