  This condo was perfect for our three generation family vacation. The upstairs with its master bedroom and loft with pullout sofa worked perfectly for two generations and the downstairs bedroom was great for the rest. The location is very good, walking distance to many good restaurants and the beach. The view from the lanai looks out at the garden, pool and then the ocean sunset. The unit is well maintained and equipped. We would definitely stay here again.

  Hale Kamaole itself is a great location opposite Kam 3 beach. The on-site staff are exceptional and the grounds and facilities are very very well maintained. Security is good too. The unit's coffee machine died while we were there, it was quite old, and a replacement arrived with a smile the same day :)
  
  The Unit #264 itself has a great view and is well located in the complex. It is a unit that is known not to be updated and is priced accordingly. It is comfortable in its layout with the living/dining room furniture being just fine.
  
  The Master Bedroom upstairs is adequate. Again the bathroom is not updated but this is known. It is clean. The sheets were fine but I suggest replacing all the pillows and the quilted coverlet and shams. The pillows are stained. The coverlet and matching king shams are pilled and in fact I found a few stains. The coverlet and shams have had their day. Bathroom towels were nice.
  
  There were only 3 beach towels in the unit and each was either worn, stained or had holes. We bought 2 and took them home as we had a golf bag with us. I suggest ensuring there are 6 new beach towels in the unit as the unit advertises it sleeps 6 people.
  
  The twin bedroom is nice and the bathroom outside that is semi-updated. Again clean with nice towels.
  
  The kitchen is original. The appliances are not new but work fine. The seal on the freezer is going but it does still work. I suggest replacing all 3 "non-stick" frying pans with at least 1 or 2 new ones. They are worn, scratched and just not nice to use. I didn't ask for that while there but thought to mention in this review. There was new cutlery in the kitchen and that was nice. The rest of the kitchen implements were fine. Maybe new tea towels would be in order. Again the ones there are pretty worn.
  
  Again the onsite staff and common facilities are exceptional. While this unit is dated it is a great location and view.

  This was a great unit! Fully stocked, and had everything we needed! Great view - lots of whale sightings during my morning coffee on the lanai. The space was a lot bigger than we expected, and had plenty of room for our family of 5. Highly recommend!
  
  This was our first stay at Hale Kamaole, and the property came with rave reviews from others. We loved the location, beach access, pool area, and the grounds. Staff were extremely helpful, although we didn’t need much!
  
  Kamaole III across the street was great! Some nice boogie boarding for the kids, and so many turtles!! Was a convenient location for us to explore other parts of the island as well.

  We had a wonderful stay. Everything we could have needed was in the place so we didn’t have to waste money on buying basic supplies for the kitchen. The property was clean, the view was good and it was great to be across from Kamaole III for swimming and sun sets. It would have been nice to be a little closer to more restaurants and shops but we would definitely stay there again. We had one issue when the air conditioning unit wasn’t turning on but they were there to fix it in less than five minutes after we reported it to the office.

  We stayed for 3 weeks in April 2022. We had a great stay and have stayed in a few units at the Hale Kamaole over the years.
  This unit is in a great location on the property with a good view of the ocean and common space but not noisy at all. Also close to the bbq's and lower pool.
  The unit was clean when we arrived.
  It is a unit that has not been updated at all but it is comfortable. The beds and linens were comfortable. The bath, pool and beach towels good too.
  The only recommendation we have for improvement is to have the door to the laundry close properly, and stay closed even if an extra latch needs to be installed.
  Also, the cutlery in the kitchen does need to be replaced as there are no dinner sized forks. We did not bring these 2 items to the attention of either the owners or managers during our stay as we believe they can be addressed by the Owners after. The rest of the kitchen was sufficiently kitted out.
  The on-site management staff are excellent. Very responsive to a couple of quick questions. THey also put us in touch with Julie to organize a bucket list activity for our family.
  Also the beach chairs that should have been in the unit were not. They quickly and with good nature delivered 4. Much appreciated. Mahalo.

  Have stayed in this unit once before. We only have a few comments. The bedroom on the main floor is in badly need of real beds! There are 2 COTS that are a poor substitute for a real bed. The headboard is not attached and keeps moving and the bottom sheet refuses to stay in place. The kitchen is lacking basic requirements that would not take much to rectify. No can opener, mixing bowl of any kind, proper eating utensils with steak knives, casserole dish of some sort, a cookie sheet to put something in the oven. The owners should have someone look at these things from time to time as are easy fixes. I only mention this to give constructive criticism. I would stay in this unit again.

  Great location and service. Views from balcony are awesome - we saw lots of whales. The property is in a quieter area, and a great place to walk.
  Unit 264 was not our first choice, but was a backup offered by the property managers when the owners of the original unit we rented backed out of our contract. Unit 264 is dated in decor and amenities, but was fine for us.
  (Side note: DO NOT use VRBO to book. Book properties directly with Hale Kamaole property management company (they are great). VRBO provided NO SUPPORT when the owners backed out only 3 weeks prior to our stay. In addition, VRBO takes no responsibility for incorrect calendars on the VRBO website. We reserved 2 months in advance, paid and thought everything was set. VRBO charged us over $400 for a "service fee" for booking on their site and would not refund any $ or help at all.)

  We only stayed in that particular condo 2 nights because there were some plumbing issues... The management team was able to move us into another vacant unit.. The pool and the grounds were tended too daily.
  I wouldn't recommend this particular unit if you have little ones only because of the stairs.

  The property was great to stay at. This particular unit was fine except that it needs a little TLC and updating. The downstairs bedroom carpets had dirty spots/stains. And the upstairs bathroom has a clogged/very slow drain in the shower. It would be nice if a few more “supplies” were included (laundry soap pods, toilet paper). Kind of a pain to buy those things when on vacation. But we were told beforehand in rental information that we may need to purchase more. The check in process was easy. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool; nice bbq area. The close location to the beach park was awesome. Stores, restaurants, and coffee shops are within walking distance. We had a great vacation. Kihei is a nice town and we felt safe walking around even after dark.

  The unit has convenient access to the beach and had most of the items we needed for a long-ish stay. Was disappointed that there were zero beach items (chairs, umbrellas, body board, etc) available as every other place I've stayed has had them. The upstairs bathtub drain was plugged, but we didn't bother dealing with it as the main floor shower was much more appealing since it was updated and more spacious. It was nice to have two bedrooms and an upstairs loft area. The unit could do with some updates, but overall it was functional and pleasant. Would have liked if the complex had more than two propane barbeques, and the pool area is really basic compared to other places I've stayed. Overall we had a very pleasant experience.

  I love the Hale Kamaole complex, and have stayed there a number of times. Its location on Maui is ideal, and its proximity to a great beach and its casual feel make a very relaxing place to stay. Some units are better appointed than others; the unit we stayed in this year (264) was the least well appointed unit we have stayed in here, and was pretty bare bones on just about every front. Won't stay in this unit again, but will definitely return to the complex in future years. The unit was poorly cleaned on our arrival, and had no sponges or cleaning products available.

  We've been coming to the Hale Kamaole for almost 30 years and always enjoy our visit. We tried unit 222 for the first time, and found it to be dirty, outdated and poorly equipped so asked to be moved after 1 night.
  
  Lisa and the office staff were very gracious and accommodating (thanks very much Lisa!) and relocated us to 264 which we found to be much more typical of our Hale Kamaole experience and expectations. While not as newly renovated as some units we've seen, it was very clean, well equipped and had several extras we appreciated. We would recommend unit 264 and would not hesitate to book it again, however would suggest you avoid unit 222 until the owner decides to invest in their property.

  We had a great time at Hale Kamaole!Its close to the beach so anyone wanting to go could just walk.The condo has a great view of the ocean. The only complaint we had was the dishwasher which wouldn't always drain and the shower which had as much water coming out of the spout as the shower head and some water "toys" would be a nice addition.
